Riding to work

It's only 42 degrees this morning, but it is bright and sunny. My rule is that I can ride when the temperature is above 40 and the chance of rain is 40% or less. What can I say? I'm addicted to riding. I don't want to make you think I am cheap, but today I will save about $4 in gas by riding my Kawasaki Nomad versus driving my Chrysler Pacifica. So I'm doing my part to slow down global warming. Maybe that is the answer! Everyone should ride a motorcycle to cut down on greenhouse gases :-)

The only problem with riding my bike to work is this: when I get to the office I don't want to go inside. I would rather keep riding.

I know exact what you mean my friend! The whole way to work that Nomad just quietly whispers, "Hey, don't turn into that parking lot. Twist that throttle and lets go exploring!"

So you go by the "40 / 40 rule"? I've heard that most Harley clubs go by the "50 / 50 rule" so you're about one notch tougher than them :)

I rode to Chattanooga the other day and got caught in some temps that evening that dipped into the 30's when we went down into gulleys and low lying areas. A little on the nippy side.

By the way, I plan on putting a link to your blog on my blogsite if it's ok with you.
You've created a nice blog here Mike.

I hadn't heard of the 40/40 or 50/50 rule. Makes it easy to get up in the morning and make a decision to ride or not. I suppose my rule would be 5/50 with some addendums related to road surface condition. I'm usually not riding too far at the lower part of that rule though. 20 to 50 miles or so.

I do love to ride.

As sarch said you have a nice blog. Even my wife, a completely disinterested non-rider, got excited seeing the ferris wheel picture. She wanted to see more pictures and your flickr site had the swings too but that just wasn't enough. Several hundred images from that haunted park might have satisfied her. Maybe I'll have to take a ride down there myself....
